On 2 January we headed from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town to travel onto Langebaan for a sunset beach wedding. Or so we thought....
BA flights booked. Online check-in, done. Through security - clear. In line to board the plane: announcement: flight delayed indefinitely.
Our time frame was: 09h50 depart PE, land at 11h15. Get luggage and rental car and drive 90minutes to Langebaan. Arrive at Langebaan have some lunch, wash hair, freshen up. 16h45 be at venue. 17h00 ceremony starts and there we go.
MrB was best man

Indefinite delays? Say what? A bird hit a plane, the plane hit a bird either way, the nose was damaged. With it, the radar equipment. No flying this plane! Solution? they are sending a plane from Johannesburg to PE. Time? 12h30. That means it lands in PE at 14h30. Let's say we board straight away and we fly at 15h00. We get to CT 16h15. With a drive of 90minutes we were going to miss the 17h00 wedding. The bestman was going to miss it.
Plan? My brother to the rescue and buys MrB a ticket to CT and off he goes. The father of the groom arranges a shuttle to transfer MrB. Sorted.

| Airport hairdressing |
The rest of us? sit in the airport and wait....and wait....have we mentioned how myself and Lady J have not washed our hair? We had all that time remember. Panic! I find one of those hair demo people and talk the guy into curling my hair. I get my straightner and get started on Lady J's hair. The airport hairdresser. we departed PE at 15h30. We made it to CT, purchased a pair of pants for my brother and got our car. My brother changed while I got the car. While he drove we changed and did make up. We arrived at 18h45. The bride and groom arrived at the reception at 19h00.

| So happy to be back together! |
We saw the sunset, we listened to amazing speeches, we ate the best wedding food ever and we had some wine. The wedding was beautiful, relaxed, moving and true to the couple and who they are. It was short and sweet and loving and everything a wedding should be. I was sad it was over but I did arrive late!

omg...how chaotic and frustrating, but way to get things done at the airport!
Oh my word... that must have been so hectic! What an adventure - so glad you were able to make it in time for the reception :) Must have been so funny whipping out a straightener in the airport!
