MrB wanted cufflinks. He wanted whimsical quirky cufflinks that would be special and not just the plain old cufflinks. I found these pretty awesome Lady Peculiar Protea cufflinks and when he saw them he really really wanted them. If you recall, my bouquet would be proteas so it would be a little common thread to keep through the wedding.
When we heard what the price of the cufflinks would be we had a minor heart attack. Don't get me wrong, these are pretty much handmade individually crafted cufflinks and when you consider that, the price is not bad. We just didn't have the budget for these one of a kind cufflinks.
Clearly we made a plan otherwise these pictures would not be here and there would be no post! A few friends and I put money together and purchased the cufflinks as a birthday present. I placed the order, told him what his birthday present was and then we waited.
We were getting married on 27 April in Plett. On 22 April we were leaving Johannesburg to drive to the Eastern Cape and then on the 24th we are driving to Plett. I ordered the cufflinks end of March.
On 21 April, my last day at work I realised that the cufflinks had not arrived. I phoned Lady Peculiar who confirmed that it had been sent and should be at the Post Office.
I phoned the Post Office.
They advised that the package had not yet arrived.
Lady Peculiar checked on their side with their post office and they advised that the cufflinks had been delivered.
Where were the cufflinks?
My entire office joined in on the panic. Everyone came up with plans and options. It was panic for about 30minutes.
One bright accountant decided to point out that our parcels tend to go to two Post Offices - have we checked both of them?
I phone. The second Post Office has the parcel. YAY! JOY!
MrB had dropped me off that morning as my brother was using my car. It's 16h30 and the Post Office closes at 17h00 and no one will make it to me in time for me to go get the parcel.
The lovely accountant says "I will take you"
MrB got his cufflinks and he loved them! Close call but well worth it.
Since our wedding he has warn them numerous times and they will always be special to us.
